Steamed Millet and Red Lentils
 

Steamed Millet and Red Lentils is an excellent option to make nourishing “rice bowls,” pair with stew or use in place of couscous for both savoury and sweet recipes.

Ingredients

195g red lentils

195g millet grains

Pinch of sea salt

1 - 2 dry bay leaf

500ml fresh water

Directions

  1. Wash the millet and red lentils together in a sieve until the water runs clear.

  2. Drain and add them to a large pot together with the fresh water, salt, and dry bay leaf.

  3. Bring to a boil. After 5 minutes of cooking, reduce heat to low-medium and continue cooking for another 10 minutes.

  4. Fluff the cooked grains and taste to gauge doneness.

  5. Serve hot or cold for savoury or sweet meals, sauces, yogurt or as desired.
