Sweet Red Pepper (Pizza) Sauce

 

Red Pepper (Pizza) Sauce is a great alternative to tomato sauce which can be used as pizza sauce, pasta, sandwich spread or even a good base for a tasty stew especially if you are allergic to tomatoes, do not like tomatoes or tomato sauce or something similar.

Ingredients:

540g, 2 - 3 sweet red bell peppers, cored, seeded and chopped

70g red onions, roughly chopped

22g, 5 garlic cloves, peeled

1 1/2 tsp fine pink himalayan salt

1/2 to 1 tsp black pepper corns

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

 
 

Direction:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400˚F and line a baking sheet with unbleached parchment paper.

  2. Combine the sweet red bell peppers, red onions, garlic cloves, salt, black pepper corns, crushed red pepper flakes and extra virgin olive oil on the lined-baking sheet.

  3. Bake the contents for 40 minutes then cool for about 15 minutes.

  4. Load the baked goodies in a blender and blitz until well pureed.

  5. Store in an air-tight container and keep cold in the fridge or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

  6. Use as pizza sauce, pasta sauce, sandwich spread or even a good base for a tasty stew. Here’s a tasty Margherita pizza to try this red pepper sauce on.
