Teff Porridge

Teff porridge - made with the tiniest grain in the world, teff, is a heartwarming and nourishing dish with a nutty and earthy flavour that is sure to boost up your energy levels and keep you satiated for a few hours.

Ingredients:

121g teff grains

605ml water

1 tsp cinnamon powder

1/4 tsp of fine sea salt

Honey or preferred sweetener for taste

Hemp seed butter or nut butter, for garnish

Shaved coconut slices, for garnish

Splash of milk, for taste (optional)

Directions:

  1. Place the teff grains in a bowl and add in some fresh water.

  2. Stir and leave undisturbed for about 20 to 30 minutes or up to 2 days to encouraging sprouting.

  3. Then stir again and drain the water. Rinse one more time, add in the water and transfer into a saucepan ensuring all the tiny teff grains made their way in.

  4. Season with the cinnamon powder and salt and then bring to a boil on medium to high heat and stir or whisk every now and again to prevent the teff grains from clumping.

  5. Cook for 20 minutes until the porridge thickens and starts to splatter. Turn off and sweeten for taste.

  6. Serve with a splash of milk, swirl of your favorite nut or seed butter and a few pieces of shaved coconut.

Notes:
